iodéOS 5 is out

News

Our team is rolling out the update of iodéOS version 5 today!

iodéOS is our open source operating system based on Android (LineageOS). It has:

  • Google and its trackers stripped off the system,
  • a privacy-friendly selection of preinstalled apps, that are uninstallable,
  • our own built-in adblocker (the iodé blocker).

What’s new in version 5?

The most notable changes are:

There are also important changes coming from Android 14 itself, for example: Selected photos access, preventing installing too old apps and data sharing updates, which we mentioned in this post already. You can find a complete list of Android 14 changes here.

What about the UI changes?

A couple of days ago, we announced UI changes and a shiny new widget. No worries, these are coming, but not in this release. They’re currently being Beta tested and will roll out in a future release, so we can ensure that everything runs smoothly for you.

How do I get iodéOS 5?

The Over-The-Air (OTA) update will be released today. As always, you can download and install it right from your Updater app

What about the data on my phone?

All our updates and upgrades are done Over-The-Air so you don’t need to reset the phone or anything else. It is of course always a good idea to create regular backups of your data.
