In 2025, iodé turned five—a year full of successes! As we step into our sixth year, we’re taking a moment to celebrate our achievements and reflect on how far we’ve come in making privacy on mobile devices accessible to everyone.
iodéOS Now Supports 57 Devices!
We’re committed to bringing iodéOS to as many users as possible. In 2025 alone, we added support for 9 new devices: Brax3, Fairphone 6, SHIFT8, Pixel 4a, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9a. We also continue to support legacy devices long after many manufacturers have dropped support. If your device isn’t officially supported, check out our growing community’s unofficial builds—or try the iodéOS Generic System Image for a DIY solution.
Expanding Sustainable Partnerships
This year, we deepened our focus on sustainable hardware. The Brax3 crowdfunding campaign became one of the most successful ever, with over 5,000 devices sold. We also added support for the latest Fairphone and Shiftphone models, proving that modular, repairable, and eco-friendly hardware can thrive. But sustainability isn’t just about hardware: stock Android’s spyware and bloatware accelerate obsolescence and waste. By choosing a privacy-focused OS like iodéOS, you reduce strain on your device—and the planet—by blocking ads and data-hungry tracking.
iodéOS 7: The Next Step in Privacy and Performance
2025 saw the launch of iodéOS 6, packed with privacy and security improvements like Private Space and autoreboot, better Android Auto compatibility, expanded bank app support, and new features such as OpenEUICC for eSIM management. We also introduced a native PDF viewer (Camelot), a music player (Twelve), a new default search engine, and a navigation app (CoMaps). As always, you’re free to uninstall any default app and replace it with your preferred alternative.
We’ve also rolled out iodéOS 7, already available “Over-The-Air” for 34 devices!
Degoogle your life—One Step at a Time
This year, we launched a series of in-depth tutorials to help you break free from Big Tech, covering email, contacts and calendar, maps and navigation, and real-time messaging. But we didn’t stop there—we also made it easier than ever to take action with our updated iodéOS installer. Now featuring French and German translations, automated unlocking for Sony and Motorola devices, and improved instructions, DIY degoogling is simpler and more accessible than ever.
Privacy is a team effort, so share your journey with friends and family and help them take control of their digital lives too!
Giving back to the community
In 2025, we redesigned the iodé News app to integrate the Iodé FAQ and documentation, making offline access easier than ever. We also welcomed Andy, a community manager and key contributor to the Lineage 4 microG project, to ensure your questions in the forum reach our developers. Your feedback shaped several OS updates, and we’ll continue to engage with the community in 2026.
Let’s Make 2026 the Year for Privacy and Innovation—Together!
2025 was a milestone year for iodé, and we’re carrying that momentum into 2026 with even bigger plans. This year, we’re not only expanding our team and outreach but also bringing exciting novelties to the project—new features, tools, and collaborations that will push the boundaries of privacy and user control on mobile devices.
As Google continues to restrict the openness of Android, alternatives like iodéOS are more essential than ever. We’re committed to keeping Android accessible, customizable, and privacy-first, working closely with manufacturers and the community to build a sustainable future.
Stay tuned for updates—we’ll be sharing more about our roadmap and upcoming features soon. Together, let’s make 2026 a year of progress for privacy and innovation. Join us in building a future where you stay in control of your digital life.
