We’re happy to announce that we’re rolling out an over-the-air (OTA) update of iodéOS today!
As you may know by now, iodéOS is an open source mobile operating system based on Android, more specifically LineageOS. iodéOS retains the stability and security of LineageOS and adds its own modifications, such as
- A privacy-friendly selection of pre-installed applications, all of which can be uninstalled.
- Pre-installed MicroG services, which replace Google Play services and add compatibility with the vast majority of Android apps in a privacy-preserving way.
- Our own built-in ad blocker (the iodé blocker).
- All communication with Google removed from the system.
What changes does the new OTA bring?
- Thunderbird replaces p≡p (Pretty easy privacy) as the default email app.
- Google apps work again in their latest versions.
- December Security Patch is released.
- All apps and blocklists are updated.
The update is released today (iodéOS v5.8). As always, you can download and install it directly from your Updater app.
All our updates and upgrades are done over-the-air and seamless. Of course, it is always a good idea to back up your data regularly.
A new phone is supported!
Finally, the latest version of iodeOS supports a new phone model: the OnePlus 11. If you want to install iodéOS on it, you can find it here.
